A Day of Light, Love, Music and Polo
Featuring a Grateful Dead tribute concert, ono farm-fresh food and drinks, eco-friendly fashion, exciting equestrian action, oceanfront tailgating (BYO tents, coolers, grills, drinks (both alcoholic & non-alcoholic), food, etc.) and a sea of aloha.
50 years ago, the Grateful Dead played one of its most celebrated concerts - a fundraiser held at the Old Renaissance Faire Grounds in Veneta, Oregon with the goal of raising money for Springfield Creamery dairy farm owned by the brother of famed Merry Prankster, Ken Keasey. The music and vibe were all-time with the concert earning the name, “Sunshine Daydream” (click here for an article delving into the massive amount of love that emanated from this show). On Sunday, August 28, 2022 - fifty years and one day after this epic gathering, we bring its songs and spirit to Hawaii Polo Club.

Every Sunday from April through the first weekend of September, Hawaii Polo Club delivers an enriching experience unlike any other - stunning vistas (ocean and mountain), unrivaled tailgating, enthralling sport and a spectacular community vibe. On August 28, we add a healthy dose of the Grateful Dead to the mix, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Dead’s “Sunshine Daydream” concert and what would have been Jerry Garcia’s 80th birthday month.
We cannot wait to bring ‘Shakedown Street’ to the beach on Oahu’s North Shore. Ramble on over to Mokuleia, waive your flag wide and high and enjoy!

Hawaii guitar great, Stephen Inglis, brings his band (“Stephen Inglis and Paradise Waits”) to Hawaii Polo ready to deliver an energized tribute to The Grateful Dead. The band features Inglis (lead guitar (electric), vocals), Michael Shapiro (rhythm guitar, vocals), Danny Eisenberg (keyboards), Eric Petersen (bass, vocals) and Steven Howells (drums).
Inglis is a world-class guitarist with deep insight into the Dead. When just 22 years old, Inglis served as lead guitarist in “House of Spirits” – a 1990’s band headed up by Bill Kreautzmann (the Dead’s founding and forever drummer). Inglis’ 2018 album, “Cut The Dead Some Slack,” is comprised entirely of songs from the Dead’s cannon, mostly performed in slack key fashion. Dennis McNally, *the* publicist for the Dead from ‘84 thru ‘95, supported the release of Inglis’ stellar album which garnered much attention nationally including frequent praise and spins from David Gans on his iconic radio show, “The Grateful Dead Hour.”
On Sunday, August 28, as the late afternoon sun casts a golden glow onto our field, Stephen Inglis and Paradise Waits will take the stage at Hawaii Polo Club and transport us to another time and place.
