“How Hawaii became Jerry Garcia of Grateful Dead's new drug”
Jerry Garcia Band
Live at Hilo Civic Auditorium

What a show! Jerry clearly feeling *joyous*, not surprising given the show was dedicated to protecting Hawai‘i reefs and the fact that he did two dives in Kona the previous day (see next image / story).

Jerry’s Time at Terrapin Station
Click link below for video footage of Jerry in Hawaii’s weightless wonderland. “It’s a living theater of psychedelia,” Jerry stated his daughter Annabelle referencing Hawaii’s aquatic marvels, “just incredibly beautiful.”
Grateful Diver
Jerry did over 300 dives in Kona with “Jack’s Dive Shop” (still going strong today) and did numerous dives on other Hawaiian islands as well. Jerry’s love of scuba diving was further demonstrated through his actions out of the water, testifying to the Hawai ‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources in support of boat moorings and directing Grateful Dead philanthropic funds to covering the cost of many moorings.
